The Bangladesh photographer Akash was the winner of the Travel Photographer of the Year 2009, with two portfolios. One of them (pictured above) travelers surfing on the train in Bangladesh.
This was the first time a Bangladesh photographer won the award. The photo of the girl traveling at the junction between the two cars is also Akash. Thousands of photos were sent to the contest for amateurs and professionals.
The photo of the young girl in the balance, in Japan, is the Canadian Kevin Cozma and received special mention.
